George has been pursuing his hobby of traveling for years. Yes, we can relate to that – we love to travel too. Moreover, the tabby cat travels for free! He doesn't have to spend on rent or food, and even his hobby doesn't cost him a thing. Well, that's how cats are. Thanks to their cute faces and soft fur, they can achieve anything.
George chooses Scottish public transportation for his travels and takes advantage of every opportunity to explore his homeland. He travels by buses, trains, and sometimes even by car. His owners, Elizabeth and Dennis Royal, were initially very worried about him, so they decided to create a Facebook page for the wanderer, allowing people to report his whereabouts.
However, this method was not foolproof. Once, he didn’t come home for 4 days, so his owners alarmed followers to move every stone for the vagabond’s search. Well, if you ask us, he probably enjoys exploring new things alone, though the constant attention may be a bit annoying…
George, who turned ten this year, was found near Loch Lomond, more than 22 km away from home. Surely, he wanted to clear his head a bit. We don’t understand the great fright, as he has traveled even farther. He once tried to inconspicuously join a school class in an adventure park 60 km away from his home. Our hearts break, but surely they wouldn’t have allowed him on the roller coaster due to height restrictions.
His owners said that their favorite often takes the train to Edinburgh, where, like a local cool cat, he stands in front of stores, looks around, and keeps an eye on everyone. He regularly pays visits to private homes and even goes to a kindergarten to visit the children.
Elizabeth, his owner, recounted. When asked why George is like this, she can’t explain. She thinks he simply loves adventures, needs constant stimuli. But he always comes back, no matter where he goes.
However, his latest long absence worried her, even though she tries not to tie him down and lets him do what makes him happy. So she asked her daughter to post another update, maybe someone saw him. Many people reported having seen him. A couple from Helensburgh was kind enough to pick up the wanderer and bring him home. The family was so scared this time that they didn’t allow George to wander again until he calmed down a bit.
Elizabeth’s husband, Dennis, suffers from dementia, but George’s presence always has a very calming effect on him. And the cat is aware of this. When at home, he usually sits in Grandpa’s lap, and they nap together, or George enjoys being petted.
Their bond is so deep that George seeks only Dennis’s attention from the family. And others have noticed this too…
