The cat-loving sergeant from Zugló: this is how his heart fell for 10 Ukrainian cats, who blinked at him from a Lada

A shocking thing happened at dawn on the seventh of November, a car full of cats appeared in the parking lot of the police station in Zuglo. The refugee lady did not speak Hungarian, but she was confronted by Sergeant András Fedák, who speak Ukrainian, so she understood what the driver wanted to know. The woman tried to explain that there were 10 Ukrainian kittens in the boot of her car.

When the Sergeant thought she spotted a Ukrainian license plate, he knew immediately that it was worth starting a conversation in Eastern Slavic. The driver, who looked rather tired, explained that she had not eaten or drunk recently, as she had driven straight from Odesa on the Black Sea coast, without stopping, to Budapest.

Then she explained, she has been on the road for 19 hours, but his fellow passengers could not replace her, as they were all cats. Needless to say, the man was immediately fascinated by the 10 kittens. So he decided to help them.

The unexpected help

She only needed temporary emergency shelter. The deputy officer thus drove the car full of cats to the temporary accommodation with the help of his service car. By the way, this was necessary because the lady’s GPS was not working, and it would have been very difficult for her to communicate with the workers there, in the absence of knowledge of the language. So the fact that he was accompanied by the Ukrainian-speaking policeman was a big help in this as well. Thanks to this, they were allowed into the room assigned to them, and they even helped with the placement of the kittens.
