After two decades, the wild cat is unchained. It is heartbreaking to see how it reacts.
Many of the animals in the circus have suffered a lot of pain. Fortunately, there are now laws in many parts of the world that prohibit such exploitation, but there are some unfortunate pairs who are just now being released. One of them is Mufasa, a chained mountain lion (cougar) who has lived his life in captivity.
Peru is one of the countries that prohibits the use of wild animals in circuses, but there are always some rule-breaking companies that ignore the rules and the feelings of the animals. It’s hard to imagine what Mufasa must have been through, living for 20 years locked up in chains. According to news reports. he was the last animal to be released from the circus world.
The elderly cougar was living out her life in the back of a van, crammed into a small cage, malnourished(It should be noted here that it is not only the guilty who force an animal to do this, but also the one who pays to watch it suffer – for him, the circus parade is nothing more.)
Mufasa was freed thanks to Animal Defenders International, whose members tracked down all the animals who had been similarly exploited. The puma was the last of their rescues. As his captors refused to hand him over, the riot police had to intervene. The wild cat was then freed from its chains and harness.
A video of the rescue operation was also recorded:
From the circus, Mufasa was taken to a shelter near Lima, where he began his rehabilitation and received veterinary care. Thanks to this, his appetite and coat condition have started to improve. After three days, the cougar was on the road again to her final home, in the Amazon jungle in the Amazon rainforest. A beautiful cat after two long decades here, he can finally discover his natural habitat!
