Cats are known to be independent and self-conscious, but if you observe your pet more closely, you can even notice that it takes this or that from you. Moreover, it is not only dogs that have the special ability to reflect their owner's moods. This is especially true if you already played a key role in your cat's life in its early years.
We’ll show you why your cat inspired by your personality and what it means for your relationships!
Cats learn their behavior and habits from their mothers and littermates. If you raise it from an early age, the kitten will probably learn habits and pick up personality traits from you. Both positive and negative. You influence it exactly as a parent influences its child.
If you adopt an older cat, of course it will also adapt to you, but not to the extent that a kitten would. It goes without saying that a feline’s personality is also influenced by other factors. Like breed, genes, environment and parents.
Instead of learning every habit or behavior on their own, they rely on their elders. This way, they make fewer mistakes during the process and learn to get used to live the real life faster. This covers details such as how hard to bite, how to clean themselves or where to find prey.
Although you probably won’t teach it how much to bite, for example, through practical means, your reactions will provide enough clues for this. Let’s say if it playfully bite and pinch you, it will only go as far as you leave it.
In addition, they also observe your emotional reactions and if something upsets you – be it the presence of a person, a sound or smell – they will also react with excitement or stress. Not necessarily because they are bothered by it, but because they see that you are.
However, this does not mean that they will become your counterpart. There will be things that will cause them joy or tension regardless of you.
Cats can reflect not only reactions, but also personality traits. This is because, due to the nature of the owner, it exposes its pet to different stimuli. For example, if the owner is an introvert who rarely requires company, and therefore almost never invites strangers over, the cat probably won’t be too fond of guests if they do show up once in a while.
It is unlikely that cats reflect complex human feelings and behaviors, since they are animals. However, they may still mimic things such as certain lying positions, preferences for certain places, or particular interests in certain foods. There is no witchcraft involved. They constantly observe us, just as they would with their mother, and this is how certain habits stick to them. This is not only observed in cats, many animal species behave this way.
