Here is a touching video of a 25-year-old cat crying tears of joy at seeing her owner for the first time in two years

The very old cat was lost two years ago. During this time, she was living on the streets until her stray life came to an end: Kizzy was returned to her owners. A video was taken of the big reunion.

Kizzy the very old kitty, who is reported to be a quarter of a century old. You can imagine how difficult it must have been for a cat of that age to survive on the streets. Especially as she used to have a comfortable home and loving owners. The 25-year-old cat was Alison and Dean Lyng’s pet until one day two years ago when she returned to their home in Chatham. The couple were convinced their cat was gone forever.

Saved by the kindness of a passer-by

Fortunately, this was not the case, but the cat could not find her way home on her own, so she tried to survive on the streets. Anyone would have thought the cat was just a “normal” stray as she was old and, according to the pictures, skinny and rather ragged. When a passer-by found her lying on the side of the road in Upchurch, Kent, the animal looked so badly injured that the concerned stranger initially thought she was dead.

After realising she was still alive, they decided they had to take her to a doctor. That was Kizzy’s great luck!
At the animal hospital, they examined the cat. She was completely malnourished, weighed just 2.5 kilos, and was swarming with fleas and had claws so long that she couldn’t even walk properly. Unfortunately, he was not microchipped and was rightly thought to be an abandoned stray.

An advertisement brought her home

Although it seemed hopeless, in the Animals Lost and Found in Kent group, an appeal was posted in case someone might recognise the cat.

This post was seen by Alison Lyng, who recognised Kizzy in the raggedy kitty. They immediately contacted the organisation that runs the site to get their beloved kitten back as soon as possible.

They too were absolutely stunned at this turn of events, as they said there was almost no chance that a cat that old and who was always indoors would survive such a long time on the streets, completely abandoned. This sentiment was echoed by Natasha McPhee, founder of Animals Lost and Found in Kent, who said the story was both amazing and astonishing. “Most cats don’t live to this age in an apartment, let alone out on their own,” she said. Here is the promised footage of the first moments of the reunion:

So, your pet doesn’t have to live through this: you must act!

We’re happy to acknowledge that there are wonderful cats like Kizzy, but we also think it’s important to remind you that as a responsible cat owner, it’s essential that you do everything you can to keep your pet safe! As you can see, even the most devoted owners can make mistakes, and a curious or excited cat can be out the door or sneaking out the window in the blink of an eye. In such cases, a microchip can be a guarantee that the animal will be found again, making it easy to identify the animal and then notify the owner.

It is very common to see pictures of well-cared-for and or even purebred kittens that are likely to have been cared for and are wanted, as described above, being shared on social media groups. If these pets had a chip in them, it would take no time at all to find out who they belong to.
If your pet doesn’t have one, check with your vet as soon as possible!
