An interesting fact about Maine Coons is that, although the breed standard is for males to weigh around 8 kilograms, the weight of a male coon is they can grow much larger. It is not uncommon to see males weighing 12-13 kilos. They are also very late maturing,reaching their final size between 3 and 5 years of age. So if a kitten is bigger than a smaller terrier at 4 months, it is guaranteed to be a a magnificent giant.
