Simply put, sleeping all day and then eating the same food at certain intervals under the same circumstances is boring. Without having to overcome some challenge to get their food, cats feel less fulfilled and satisfied. And in their frustration, they do things that are not good for them or their owners.

Rather hide it on a lick-mat, in a snuffle-mat, in a food puzzle, or use a laser pointer to guide him to the hidden morsels.
