There are quite a few cat ladies and cat gentlemen among celebrities. There are those who have been fans of purring indoor tigers for as long as they can remember, others realized after adoption that their fate was sealed forever.
Taylor Swift, for example, told in an interview about how her cats are the main source of inspiration for her career; because of them, she accepted the role of Bombalurina in the musical, Cats.
1. Taylor Swift
Taylor has three cats. Meredith Gray is named after the Grey’s Anatomy character of the same name, Olivia Benson is named after the iconic character of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, and Benjamin Button is named after the main character of the cult film The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, starring Brad Pitt.
Meredith Gray and Olivia Benson are Scottish folds, while Benjamin Button is a ragdoll. Mr. Button is an adopted kitty, about whom Taylor discreetly only said that it was love at first sight. However, the singer, who treats her private life and love affairs particularly confidentially, shared this much with the public: “It’s a pleasure to live with them. They are very dignified, independent, able to deal with their own lives.” What is this if not true admiration?!
Taylor’s favourites were even featured in the singer’s ME! music video:
2. Ed Sheeran
Ed and Taylor are not only best friends, but they also share a passion for cats. Ed’s cats, Calippo and Dorito, even have their own Instagram profiles, which were sadly last updated in 2020. They must be very busy kitties.
The Garfield-like Dorito is an orange tabby cat named after the well-known nacho chip in Britain, and Calippo is a Scottish fold named after Ed’s favorite ice cream. It seems that Ed Sheeran is not only fond of cats, but he also loves his belly just as much. And we deeply sympathize with him.
3. Ricky Gervais
We love Ricky Gervais not only because of the series Office, but also because he adores cats as much as we do. During the pandemic, Ricky helped the needy Pickle, to whom, according to the original plans, he would have provided a temporary home until someone could adopt him. And Pickle, as expected, not only stole Ricky’s heart, but Ricky’s wife Jane couldn’t resist him either, so they decided to keep the little purring machine.
Pickle came into the life of the Gervais family like a little angel. Ollie, Ricky’s previous cat, left for the eternal hunting grounds at the age of 16, a little more than half a year before Pickle’s arrival. Since then, the green-eyed hypnotist has not only taken control of the Gervais’ life, but Ricky’s Instagram profile as well.
4. Russel Brand
We first liked Russel because he caricatured his own character in the movie Forgetting Sarah Marshall. And then we found out that he also loves animals. In addition to his beautiful dog named Bear, she also has two cats, Monty and Beetle, who even accompany him on walks on his property. We call this a perfect idyll.
5. Drew Barrymore
One of our favorite Hollywood actresses adopted not one, but three kittens in 2018. The tabbies are named Lucky, Peach and Fern. As usual, she went after one kitten, but she didn’t have the heart to separate the three mischievous sisters. Drew didn’t want to keep all the healing purrs for herself, so one of the kittens, Lucky, became her, and she gave the other two to her two doughters. We wonder how Drew’s husband and his dog Douglas must have felt in this great female overpowering.
6. Gigi Hadid
The beautiful model grew up on her parents’ farm, where she was surrounded by animals from birth. So it’s no wonder that even as an adult she longed to be close to nature and animals, Californian hustle and bustle of California here and there. She even started an Instagram account for her adopted kitten named Cleo, although unfortunately the profile has not been updated for quite some time. Gigi, if you’re reading this, we’re really wondering how Cleo is doing!
It was a really heart-warming research that we couldn’t wait to share with you! One of the most beautiful proofs that cats can make anyone’s life 1000% better.
